View Full Version : TS alignment problem

I'm puzzled by a problem I've been having with my Jet cabinet saw.

Here's the scenario: I raise the blade all the way up, then lower it an inch or so and align the blade with the miter slot. It cuts perfectly. Now, if I raise the blade a little, the back of the blade (the part furthest from the operator) moves toward the fence a bit, resulting in lots of burning on the workpiece (and probably an unsafe risk of kickback). If I lower the blade a little, it goes back into alignment. In other words, the blade toes in toward the fence when I raise the blade, and then toes back out when I lower it. Vertical alignment (i.e., blade tilt) does not seem to be affected. As long as I remember to raise the blade higher than I need, then lower it a bit, the saw cuts great.

Any ideas what might be causing this? Is it something that can be adjusted? I haven't asked Jet yet.

Thanks,
Warren

Sounds like ya got a bit of backlash going on there ... You may be able to snug up some slack in the trunions - but I couldn't tell ya how since I'm not familliar with your saw.
