Hello,

This night I completed my first closed end pen on my new Nova 1624 lathe. What a joy to turn on compared to my old Palmgren. The closed end part turned out a little long, but overall I am happy with this first effort. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Dan Heine

I like it. These are really fun to do, and only a bit more work is involved.

That looks very nice for a first effort.
I am no expert and this is completely subjective so take this with a grain of salt. The body looks a tad long to me and you seem to flair out a bit towards the closed end. I measure where the hardware would normally go and try to get the diameter their the same as where the nib attaches. Taper downfrom their to the end of the pen. Again just an opinion.

One of the good things about closed ends is you do not need to use the whole tube.
