The first one is Sheoak. Not real pretty wood and I made the stem too big for the cup. 6.5" x 1.75"
The second one is Bocote. Prettier wood and better proportions. 6"x 2"

But I see what you mean about proportions and the more fiquired bocote. The off center turnings are intriqueing.

Curt - very nice work on both of your goblets! I have to disagree with you on the proportions of the first goblet - I think it looks great and it would be my choice if I had to choose between the two! I really like the non-traditional stems on both of the goblets! I bet they would be big sellers! Looking forward to seeing what else you can turn - off center! Nice work as always!

Both beautiful pieces. You have really got a handle on the twisty stem look. Very cool.

Both are beauties Curt. I have to agree I like the first one also. The bocote is a great looking piece.
