I got a couple more bowls done. The first one is another spalted Maple that is about 8" in diameter. This will be another birthday present for the wife this coming Monday. 3 coats of Tung Oil with some Carnuba buffing.

The other one is a dark Cherry about 6 inches in diameter. This is finished with first coating of Walnut Oil, and then my food safe wax mixture.

Jon both are beauties. I really like the spalting on the first one. I do like the rim of the cherry.

Beautiful bowls Jon!

The spalting is amazing on the maple! I really like the soft edges - allows the spalt to flow from the inside to the outside without being interrupted! Nice effect!

Cherry is one of my favorite woods to turn! Love the rich color and the way you turned the foot area - really different!

Beautiful maple, the form really shows it off.
The rim on the cherry looks like a lid should sit on top of it to me.
