Hello All,

I build classical guitars with East Indian rosewood backs and sides. Over the years I've tried just about every filler there is, always with mediocre results. I saw on the Luthier's Mercantile website that some Spanish builders are using hot hide glue as a filler. Has anyone tried it?

Cheers,

Brian

I was just about to point you to the MIMF, I remembered a similar thread there and low and behold it was you again!

Take my advice with a boulder of salt, I am very much a newbie. That said, I've tried a couple pore fillers and out of them hide glue was by far my favorite, it does add a fair bit of water to the wood which you will have to let dry before doing any precise shaping. Try it out on some scrap.

Do you use hide glue as a glue? Or do you use some of the newer types.

Edit: I see you answered my question already on the other forum. I'm looking forward to hearing your results.
