I normally don't do many boxes but this one was requested as a gift. It is walnut with maple. Sorry for the poor pic but both of my cameras broke in the last month and this was taken form my video camera.

Bob,

It's just as well your cameras broke because no one would believe it could be anymore beautiful! Nicley done! I've never turned a segmented box but I will!

Bob. I turn a lot of boxes, but nothing even close to this piece. A real beauty!...Bill..

Thanks guy's,

It's not really segmented I haven't done any of that yet. I was given some 4/4 walnut about 2 years ago. It belong to my BIL's grandfather who had passed away. Well one of the BIL's cousin was having a baby and they wanted a keep sake box made from Grandpa Buck's wood for the shower.

So I had to figure how to make 4/4 into a box so I just glued it up like the layered peppermills I do and turned it off center then glued on the bottom and top ring.

That's really nice. The offcenter gives it that little extra style. I'm going to have to try that. Good way to use up some of those cutoffs.

Nice work! I especially like the contrasting woods; it wouldn't have been so showy with other woods. Great job.

Beautiful. Turning off center was the magic that really sets off the laminations.
