I turned this green 8x4.5. Set it aside for a couple days to warp and flex. Sanded to 180 and filled a few small cracks then soaked in a home brew for about 30 mins. I let this drip dry 24 hrs and dipped again the next day. I repeated this process for about a week. Hand sanded with 320 and 400 then rubbed in a few coats with 400. letting each coat dry 24hrs. I was looking for a rustic grainy all natural effect. Something that really looked like wood.

Real nice David! Looks like the effect you after worked! Beautiful wood, great natural form and nice job on all the bark!
