Yippee--out of the office for 10 days and since we are taking a "staycation", I would like to make a storage cabinet to organize all the TS extras. I recall threads with pics of several nice designs with efficient drawer dimensions and placement, and of course I didn't save them. Any help from the Creek.(pronounced Crik). Thanks and happy 4th. I have a very unsightly rolling box for cuttoffs under my side board table. Just a nasty waste of space, always spilling all over the floor. I'll spare you the pics. I use the cutoffs for campfires in the summer and fireplace kindling in the winter. Someday I'll roll the whole box outside and light it on fire.

I hope some post pics of a better use of that space for when that day comes.

Holds saw and router accessories and gosh knows what.

Drawers' capacity depend on the size of the milk bones :D

I'm not sure if you have a contractor saw or cabinet saw. But, I found this plan and it is what I am going to start building for my shop.

I am planning on adding a bit more storage. It has two drawers under the saw and a big section for dust collection. under the router side it has one large drawer and opens up to do height adjustment. If you don't want a built in router table to your extension it would be easy to build a set a drawers on this side. There is plenty of flexibility in changing this for your needs. the plans are very informative and I apreciate the mobile base.

If you have any questions about it just ask.

Brett, that is a great design.
I like the idea of replacing the stamped steel wing on my Delta Contractor TS with one like shown in the picture. By doing that and eliminating the existing legs and replacing themwith a cabinet with drawers would add a tremendous amount of storage.

Hi John,

I built a simple cabinet with four drawers for my table saw nearly 20 years ago. It has been priceless all these years. I did a thread on another forum recently on building shop cabinets, and this cabinet was built in the same very simple way. It is an easy weekend project.

One of these days I'll put a shop cabinet building thread here. Until then you can see it at:
http://familywoodworking.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9748

You can see a couple of dozen other shop cabinets I built on my web site slide show:

I recently built a cabinet to fit under the extension on my PM2000. I even painted the case to match the PM2000. Yes the PM2000 mustard color.

I store accesories in the drawer, saw blades in one compartment, Dado Blades and circular saw sit in the other side. I use the top to set the miter gauge on as well as a push stick or what ever I might have in hand.

I bought the plans from the same link that Brett shows.
Of course I had to make changes to fit my tastes.

The left side cabinet has drawers to hold saw blades and 2 deeper drawers for stuff. One change I would make is to put the stuff drawer above the saw blade drawers; I'm in them much more often.

Overall I’m very pleased with this setup.

Charles - did you do a custom color match for the paint or did you luck out and find an off the shelf paint that matches the PM2000 ?

I took the fence, as a sample. to Lowe's and had them match the Powermatic color. I think it is a very good match. I have thought about adding the Powermatic black racing stripes to the lower portion of the cabinet but haven't found the time.http://www.sawmillcreek.org/images/icons/icon7.gif

I built a router table 15 years ago to match my PM66. Stripes and all! Most visitors to the shop were obviously baffled by the strange machine, but rarely questioned or commented on it. All in good fun....

I used the plans that Brett talked about,http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=70358. It has been one of the best things I did for my little shop. I can handle sheets goods with a higher degree of safety, the dust collection is excellent and of course the added storage space is a real plus. As you can see I added a Bench Dog router table on the left side as well and I increased the size of my outfeed table. When it's pulled out this thing is pretty massize. Whatever you do make sure you use good casters. I bought the Woodcraft ones when they were on sale and they have been great.

 Seems I am not that strange after all.....well at least for my thoughts on color co-ordination......I might just have to fab up some mustard and black window valances as well while I am at it :D
