Need Help

Hello

I am having a problem engraving on Black Anodized Alum. I have wasted 3 days and getting no were. I have done a lot of anodized alum. in the past 2 years.

Notes:
I have tried this job on all 3 of my lasers
35w Epilog
45w Epilog
80w Emisson Tech.

I have cleaned the lenses. tried diff. focus points. tried every speed and feed. I have even tried a different pcs of material that has worked in the past.

I am sure one of the smart people here has had this problem and solved it.

I had that problem with some 1/4" thick black anodized and finally passed on the job, because it was custom cut to size and anodized, and for some reason the quality of the metal and/or coating was a problem. Have you tried the same image on a piece of regular stuff made for trophies etc? If the image engraves well on that, then it's your material.

The other thing to try is less power/more speed. It may be that instead of the nice white you will get gray, but perhaps without the blotches.

I'm inclined to agree with Joe. Cut back on the power. It looks like you're removing the anodizing.
