I'm in the design process right now for a stand for my planer and I'm wondering about height for it. what heights do you all like your planer bed to be at to avoid extra back pain from bending down too much and what not?

thanks

I tend to like my planer to be a bit higher than "usual" for exactly the reason you state. My stand puts my planer bed at just below waist height (+/- since the bed has 6" of "up and down" travel).

I like mine the height resultant from being clamped on my Black & Decker workmate :) seems just right ...not sure what that height is but you might be able to get it off the product specs on a retail site ...if you need me to let me know and i'll put a tape measure to it tonight.

I've clamped mine on a workmate too and it's a pretty good working height. But if I had room to keep it stored on a stand, I'd probably want to make it so the planer bed was even with my TS top. That way I could use the TS top (+ fold-up roller table) as a big outfeed table.
