I have a rancher that was built in 1970. I put down wood floors about 7 years ago, and like any other project it is best left undone. I would like to entertain ideas for the finish trim. I don't want to go and buy the standard stuff you can get anywhere. I would like to make my own base boards, and door trim. Who has ideas or photos would be great. Thanks.

Photos of your interior will be indispensable in getting on-target recommendations. It's a rancher, but some are more "ranch" than others...

This is the front entrance I would really like to dress up. This trim is pretty typical of the entire house. The same stuff is used for base boards too.

Kent, I have to admit, I really like the trim design my GC came up using a simple continuous bead design. Here's how it worked out prior to painting. 3/8" bead on 1x4 door trim and 1x6 base.

Thats a nice detail Jim.

here's a website that will confuse matters much more :D

they have tons of profiles. Once you see something that kinda fits, you can go to a local lumber yard ( not the borgs ) and find something comparable.

I prefer a thicker casing and base, you could actually 'build up' your base with 1x material and a bed mould or base cap. that helps define the floor IMO as well as the doors.
