I just recently went through the process of setting up my new 14" Rikon, and I've noticed that the blade moves backward and forward as the blade spins. I've done a search and I have The Bandsaw book but it doesn't seem to address the problem. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using a 1/2" Timberwolf Blade.

Cheers

Have you looked at the alignment of the upper & lower wheels? It may cause the blade to not track right. Thinking about it, if it moves back and forth as the wheels are turning, maybe a shaft is bent. May also want to check your guide blocks and bearings.

Good advice. If you are looking for additional resources ~ Bandsaws and Blades information sites (http://www.tonyward.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=3&id=38&Itemid=90%22%3E)

Most likely a bad weld!

First thing to do is to try a different blade.

How much we talking here? The two most likely causes are a poor weld and tires with not quite straight crowns. Not sure what band ships with that machine but a lot of makers ship a band that's just better than junk.

Unless it's a lot of movement you're unlikely to see any impact on your use of the machine. If the band is a cheapo though, you'll notice that.

I had the same problem with a TimberWolf 1" resaw blade on my Rikon 18". It was a bad weld, try another blade.

Good Luck.
