I am building some dressers and want to contact cement wood veneer to the top of the dresser, I have some nice quarer sawn oak veneer, the store bought thin stuff. I was wondering if anybody has glued veneer to malimine. I have some ( malimine) so I could use it instead of going out and buying something else. If you think this is not a good idea what would you think would work better?
Cheers Ron

Yes, contact cement would stick to melamine. However, many people have had trouble using contact cement with veneer. It seems that the solvents in the varnish or whatever you use to finish the wood attack the contact cement, so the veneer bubbles up. If you're going to try it, I'd strongly suggest making a test piece and taking it all the way through your finishing process.
