I am trying to rout my name and address on a 6x6 post so that the letters are going from top to bottom facing up but all the routing kits I have and seen only allow me to rout them side-ways. Are there any kits that I can buy to help me do what I want to do?

Could you use one of the lettering kits to do it sideways all the way thru MDF then cut it on the tablesaw and rearrange the letters vertically and use the MDF as a template?

Why not just get someone local to route or laser a template out of acrylic / mdf /mdo / etc. Make the template large enough to attach side rails that will fit along side the post and use quick clamps to hold the side rails to the post. You will need a router collet or a top bearing bit to use the template. Design for the collet spacing if you go that way.
