I just got back to the hacienda. Man, what a great time with some really good guys! But we missed James. What happened to you?!?
Good meal of ribs, and even better fellowship. After sitting and talking at Spring Creek BBQ for about 1 1/2 hours, all but Bill went over to the Rockler store to continue talking and do some shopping. One of the Rockler salesmen kept asking if he should provide peanuts and drinks the next time we all came in.:D I think the 4 of us that went there spend about 230.00 total, less the coupon they had in their email yesterday. Really nice and helpful workers.
I do have one picture to prove that some of us got together. I'm not in this one, but Bill Huber will post or send me the pictures he took, that he wasn't in, so it will prove that I was there also.91111

Thank you all for taking the time out of your weekend to join in. I had a great time! Jim.

Jim...
Check your camera...It appears the flash went off on all those guys foreheads and blotted out their hair?

Glenn, you're brutal!!!!!:D

It's great that you all got to meet. Ken seems like a really decent and giving guy around the creek and it was "way nice" to give him a grand Texas Welcome on his visit. Looks like a fun time was had by all.

David

p.s. Good on you Jim O'Dell for starting it all up. It must have made Ken feel awful nice.:)

Jim, I will have to agree, that was a great time I enjoyed every minute of it.
I guess to me was one of the funnest things is to meet a fellow Creeker and then find out we both work for Fedex, what a small world it is.

I spent my money at Rockler before lunch, that way if I ran out of money I could just skip lunch.

I truly enjoyed meeting everyone and hope to get together again in the future.

You know Glenn, looking at that picture I don't think it would have hurt any of us to miss lunch.... :D

Jim,

Thanks for setting this up. It was, indeed, a pleasure to meet some more Creekers face-to-face. The food was good and the company was even better.

Bill Huber and Martin got to comparing notes and lo and behold.....they both work for Fedex!

Then Bill threatened Martin.....something about watching porn and getting him fired?

For shame Martin.....well....maybe it was IF he watched porn....Bill was the guy who'd find out and get Martin fired.....:D

The fine folks at Rockler sold me a tenoning jig for my table saw and shipped it. The coupon Jim provided more than paid the shipping on that new jig. With a little luck, it will beat me home by a day.

All in all.....it was a great way to spend Saturday afternoon away from my home! Thanks guys for taking the time to have lunch and taking me shopping. Thanks for the great company!

OH BTW CLABO,

THE SAME FLASH CAUSED OUR WAISTLINES TO LOOK LIKE THEY ARE BULGING OUT TOO!

WHO WEARS A SMC CAP SO CAMERAS CAN GET A PHOTO OF THEIR HEAD? ANSWER: SEE GLENN'S AVATAR :D

Actually, Ken started this get together when he PM'd me that he was coming. I just verified if it was alright to get a group together, then typed it in the Creek. Again thanks to everyone! Jim.

Well, I think a great time was had by everyone.

Lot's of great folks, great conversation, I could have talked all afternoon if I didn't have other commitments.

Ken, I knew I'd like you in person, and I did.

Jim, we will have to get together for a shop visit when it gets cooler.

Mike, I'll let you know when it is time to cut bowl blanks out of my trees.

Bill, I promise that I won't do anything on my computer that will make you have to fire me.

James, sorry you couldn't make it, we looked and looked for you.

Steve, we missed you, too.

Jim and Ken, thanks again for settin this up. It was great fun!

What a motley crew! LOL :D :D :D

'Glad you all had a great time...getting together like this is a really enjoyable thing and I hope everyone does something like this at least once.

But Jim....it's like the Lays potato chips commercial. You can't do just one!!:D This was my first group get together. I had the one-on-one with Tyler at the end of last Summer. Both types are very enjoyable. The odd thing about today is that none of us had met any of the others before. And that's kind of sad being that several of us live so close to each other. Hopefully we'll be able to keep in touch a little better for those that we don't live too far from.
'Til the next Creeker visit! Jim.

Very cool guys...
I am afraid if we did one here in Colorado Springs, it might just be me and Pat... maybe a few more ...

Looked like it was lots of fun!

Good thing you added the pic captions cuz I was thinking we had an aging 60's Rock band posing outside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.:D

Here is the amazing thing about this trip - it is no small wonder that such a bunch of hooligans escaped criminal charges and/or imprisonment. I mean, my gosh, just look at 'em! Don't they look like a bunch of roughnecks, particularly the big guy!!

A GREAT gathering! And especially successful, given that *nobody* was arrested... :D So much fun, in such little time - THAT would be illegal in some circles...

John. I can't speak for the rest of them but......I haven't roughnecked on an oil rig since the summer of 1976. I came home on a month's leave and my brother was a driller on a rig. He wanted to take some vacation, so one of his roughnecks drilled and I roughnecked for 2 weeks.

I want you to know.....all of them were absolute gentlemen.......and a whole lot of fun.

Of course here in KY we have a different definition for a roughneck!! But, looks like you all will may be guilty only of glutiny - a minor offense!

Sounds like you all had a great time. Just wish there was such a gathering in this part of the country. Would love to spend some time with other creekers, particularly while touring a Rockler store!!

Ken, hope you like your tenoning jig. I had a Delta which I dug out the other day to make sure it worked on my Grizzly 1023 - it doesn't!! The miter slot is further from the blade than the jig can extend.

Jim O'Dell

John, I haven't looked at a Delta jig to know, but can the runner be taken off and reassembled where it will work, or possibly allow the jig to mount to piece of MDF with a new runner for the slot? I would have thought that the 1023 would have a miter slot that was roughly the same distance from the blade as the other table saws. Is that not the case? Might make me rethink what unit I get if I end up buying new. Jim.

Jim, the supplemental sled/runner idea may work. My previous saw was an AMT, about 20 years old, and I hadn't used the tenoning jig in awhile. Recently got new tools, DC system, etc., and I've been in clean up mode for a few weeks when I have time. I pulled out the jig, and admittedly didn't spend much time with it, but it doesn't look like it will work, but I may give it another look with your ideas in mind. Thanks!!

Ken, Jim, Martin, and Bill, I agree, I believe we all had a really good time. It was great to get to meet and visit with everyone. I thought maybe the Spring Creek and Rockler folks were going to start charging us rent.

I don't know about the camera problems. Next time, we need to take the pictures before we eat.

Mike, hope you were able to lay sod after that feast!! :D Jim.

Mike Forsman

Nope, I put the sod down the night before. I knew that I wouldn't have time on Saturday.

Good move, and better thinking!! :D Jim.
