How do I save without the background?

Hi guys, I am new on this site and it is a great and very helpful side as I read some of the threads. I recently bought a laser machine from Canada and it does wonders. They gave me the Corel Photo Paint X3 to work with it. The only problem I have is when I save something, it saves it with a background. Does somebody know what I have to do to save a file without the background in this software?
