View Full Version : Bandsaw Blade Use

I have about a half a dozen various bandsaw blades hanging on the wall of my shop and in at best well used condition. A couple have been through their share of plywood and MDF and are useless for anything else. These have been collecting for the last several years, but I don't know if they can be salvaged and used for anything worthwhile.

Is there anything that I can do with these, or should I just coil them and pitch? Seems like I ought to be able to do something with them, but what?

Any ideas? Thanks,

HB

A few things occur to me:

You could try to sharpen some of them yourself based on the technique described at this site (http://www.woodturningvideosplus.com/resharpen-bandsaw-blades.html).
If you want to try making half-blind dovetails the way Tage Frid (ttp://store.taunton.com/onlinestore/item/handmade-dovetails-tage-frid-014004.html) does, pieces of band saw blades can come in handy.
You could take some longer pieces of a band saw blade and make a bow saw.
