Hello guys here is a Black Birch NE to look at today, please tell me what you think. It is 11.5"x 5" finished in a buffed antique oil.

Very nice looking NE Bob! Beautiful grain swirls, great color and nice job on keeping all that bark! Form and finish are spot on! Seriously nice work!

Another beauty Bob. Could you post a pic of the bottom of your NE's. That seems to be where I struggle the most with these.

NE's especialy large NE's give one an oportunity to maximize the grain beauty hidden in the block. This piece surely does that Bob. It's a keeper. :D:D

Tony here are some pics, sometimes I carve the feet also. I included a pic of a bowl I did awhile ago. I use a home made vacuum chuck.

Very nice! I really like this one. The inclusions and differing grain patterns are interesting.

This is awesome
How do you do that? If you don't mind me asking?
Some of you really continue to raise the bar.

Lynn,
I just turned the tennon to that shape and used a fine handsaw, chisels and files to cut away what I didn't want.

Thanks Bob. Looks like I'm going to have to use Steve's tutorial and finally build me a vacuum system.
