My Krenov-inspired cabinet: Overlapping rabbets to fit the doors

In this episode I show how overlapping rabbets provide one solution to fitting the doors to the cabinet, while minimizing the door gap. I used a small shoulder plane to clean up the rabbet surfaces, to improve the fit and allow the doors to close with a nice, tight fit.

Thanks, Walt! I believe it was more luck than skill to get the front reveal. I will definitely post more, as other duties allow.

I agree - this is a great solution, and we must let Norman know how much we appreciate it. In his Krenov cabinet, John Fry's doors were beautiful veneered panels and he used a different technique that involved making rabbets on the backs, and then glued a vertical strip to one door's rabbet. Also a great solution, for flat veneered panels.
