I am trying to equip a wood shop on the cheap. Can anybody help me identify this jointer advertised on Craig's List? The model number is supposedly 88g6-085, but I can't find any info on it even at the Grizzly web site. Here is a photo:

Thanks,
Jeff:confused:

I have two of these. One is just like yours, and the other is a little newer. I have no complaints about mine. For replacement knives, check out Global Tooling. Last year, HTC clearanced the mobile bases for these machines, so I bought a couple. I did replace the cord with a longer cord. I paid $100 for the older, and $150 for the newer, which included a mobile base. I would buy another in a heartbeat, if something happened to mine. To transport the machine, I remove the fence, and blade guard. Next I separate the base and actual jointer. With a helper, turn jointer upside down, and lay in back seat, or in back of truck, with a heavy towel, or piece of carpet under it. This way tables are supported. Remember that it WILL come forward when you stop, so tie it down. While you have it apart, take old belt and get a replacement.

Wow,

Thanks for the advice! THe guy that has it wants $250. I have to drive 200 miles round trip to pick it up so thats about $290 all together. Is that too much to pay?

Thanks again for your insight!

Jeff

I think so, seems high for one that old.

Notice what I paid for mine- $100, and $150. That is what they are in my market. On another WW site ( central NC) another member listed one for $150 also. Looks like that one has a HTC mobile base under it. But price a new one from Grizzly. Usually less than $400, plus freight.
