12 1/2 years ago we bought a summer house on Cape Cod that came with hundreds of trees. Over the years I have trimmed and struggle with a collection of pine, Oak and something smooth barked in the island of the circular driveway (see after picture where my son and I planted 25 trees and shrubs.)

This year we had about a dozen trees take own to open up the lot.

So I have a bunch of Oak and this other smooth bark hardwood.

I made a little bowl out of the green white oak wood which was so much fun I turned it all the way down to 3/16 side walls. After drying it came out 1 1/2" tall by 3 3/16 - 3 1/2 even the solid foot went oval (1 7/8 x 2 1/8). No cracking on but I was amazed at how oval it dried.

I may try to remount it to sand it.

I think it is way cool to be turning my own "free" wood.

Nice work on the bowl , I found that warping w/o cracking to be very interesting and usually end up sanding by hand ... ugh. Me thinks the wood though was included with the mortage .......;)
