I think I have been watching too many space movies? This "rocket" bowl is made from Queensland maple with kwila legs. The bowl is about 250mm deep (with out the lid) and 100mm diameter. Think I prefer it without the lid.

Without the cap is my vote too. It is a very ineresting piece. What is the finish? The lid gives it a "Buck Rogers" connotation Very different. :)

I like the shape and the stand you built. I also prefer it without the top of the rocket. It reminds me of Marvin Martians ship in the Bugs Bunny cartoons.

Jim I think it looks good both ways and do prefer it without the lid. Well done.

Very nice, Jim!

I think I also like it better without the cap...it feels more "grounded" that way.

Jim - very interesting piece! Reminds me of the old Flash Gordon shows of the 30s! I like it - with or without the top. Nice form, finish and colors! This belongs in an Art Gallery somewhere! Looking forward to seeing what you post next!

Now that is a pretty piece, with or without the lid. ..Bill..

Looks great Jim, I guess I'm the only one that likes the cap. It looks like a martini shaker with the lid on and I believe it makes it look more complete.

Great looking piece. I love the base you have made for it.

I, too, like it without the lid. I think the reason why is the bowl seems to make a slight inward curve. It seems to make the line inconsistent with the top on. Still good with it on, but it is really great without.

I really like the piece. I think the top is nice as well. Maybe with a different finale though. My compliments.

Thanks for the nice comments. Consensus is, no lid. This piece was made for an exhibition. Think I will explore a different shaped lid, but I still think it is better with no top.
