Good evening folks. Another newbie question for you.
The collet on my PC 310 router is stuck. Any suggestions on how to free it up?
I didn't think I overtightened it... but who knows.
Thanks in advance...

This is a pretty common problem. Just take a something and wack the nut a few times moderately hard. I use a piece of wood and hammer.

Hi Alan-
I should have mentioned that there is a bit in the collet; I can't get the bloody thing out.
So will whacking the thing work, with the bit in the collet?

Yes, generally a few swift sharp raps to the nut will free it , just DO NOT HIT THE BIT. Hit the nut only I use the router wrench it self on my Bosch. Hit the nut , bit pops free.
There are a few collet's like on my DeWalt plunge router that have a secondary "stop" that you need to use the wrench to get the bit free.
Are you sure your router does NOT have that type of collet / nut setup?

Bingo -- worked like a champ. Rap it up side the collet, and the bit pops out.
Dunno what I would do without everyone's help. Thanks so much.

Where else but a WW forum would whacking your nut (s) with a wrench be a good recommendation :D
