Cool Extendable Table

So i came up with this table that is going to replace the crappy dining room table we have. The colors are not exact representations of the woods except for the main body of table. I am not exactly sure how the extensions for a leaf in a table work but who knows. If anyone has a better way to do that just say so, but who knows how this will work out. I may use veneers as i would be able to do it cheaper and i think i could get some super good looking veneers.

very nice design.

I would defiantly veneer the top as you would likey run into wood movement issues with that pattern if it were solid.

The veneering wouldn't be particularly complex but I would suggest you invest in a vacuum bag due to its size.

As far as substrates Baltic Birch Plywood or MDF screwed to an apron below to keep the top flat would work nicely. Just remember to veneer both sides of the substrate. Also when laminating 2 sheets of plywood together, or venering a plywood substrate make sure to continute to alternate the grain dirrection of each layer so it is perpendicular to the prior one.
