I just picked up a Delta 36-750. It does not say Uni Saw on it anywhere. Did I pick up one of these Hybrid saws? Not really a problem I got it with a 52 inch Delta Uni fence and side table. It has the mounting hardware for an out feed table. I had to move it by myself. It was really heavy so even if it is a hybrid I am still pleased with the pick up. Any must do's to get it running at tip top shape?

Does it look like this? - http://www.toolking.com/Delta_36-750B.aspx

Mine is similar. The switch is on the right side of the blade, and the motor cover is on the left.

Here is a photo. Please excuse the little ham bone to the right. Anyone know where I can pick up the right cast iron wing? I might want to reduce this saw down down to a 30 inch fence because of space concerns.

The Saw Center has the wing.

Hey Kent, you're not far from my 'hood. I was looking at a saw just like that on craigslist recently. I also wondered how it differed from a Unisaw.

Even if it's considered a hybrid, that's a very nice saw. Since you picked it up used, I'll bet you scored a great deal. It does appear a Unisaw extension would fit.

Also, feel free to keep the "little ham" in future pictures. I think it adds character to the pics we share.

Here is an example of one that will fit on either side of the table.

You can also buy cast iron ones with a router table insert.

The 36-750 was an early model hybrid saw (made in the '90s) from Delta. It is very different from the hybrids from Delta today. Yours is right-tilt, 2hp, should be made in the USA, and came with only one cast iron wing. I don't know why Delta recently released the 36-750b model number as the 36-750b is just a 36-715/716/717 model with a 50" Biesemeyer fence. As I mentioned, your saw and the 36-71x models have very little in common, and I expect that your saw is better than the hybrids from Delta today. Member Jim Hinze sold one here a couple of years ago at this link (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=42657).

J. Greg thank you for your post. I must admit once I got this saw home and discovered that it was not a UNI I was a bit disappointed. Add to the fact that I left the miter gauge behind as well. I picked this saw up for 500 dollars. Not the smoking hot deal I thought I was getting (UNI), but not a bad deal considering what that other member sold his for. For what I am going to use it for this saw should be plenty. Thanks to all for your input. Any other tips to maximize performace?

OK, not a Uni but a really good deal on that saw. Get a couple of quality TK blades for it, and it'll do whatever you need it to. Enjoy!

Some ideas that I would look at if this were mine include adding the PALS (http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=20591) system ($20) to make adjusting the trunions much easier. I had a 36-717 and I believe your saw also has table-mounted trunions and the PALS are a great help. Also, the motor is 2hp convertable to 120/240v. I'd switch the 2hp motor to 240v if available to make sure it gets all the power it needs, or feed it with a dedicated 20 amp, 120v line if you don't have 220v available. I'd also move the power switch to the left side of the saw if possible, but switch location is a personal preference-you may like it better on the right side.

Also look at the drive belt to see if it is a single v-belt or the ribbed, serpentine-style belt. If it's a v-belt, you'll likely see less vibration and better performance by replacing it with a link belt ($25-30). If it has the serpentine-style belt, you'll need to stay with it but they do work well.

The Unifence is really nice and can be made even better with the addition of a Uni-T-Fence (http://www.ttrackusa.com/unifence.htm) ($80-90). It makes the Unifence even more versatile when adding shop-made jigs and sacrificial fences.

As to the right-side cast extension wing, it would be nice to have but I wouldn't go to a lot of trouble or expense to add one. Many of the non X-5 Unisaws still come with only one wing and people seem to get along fine with them.

Hi Pat, yes I did find this saw on Craigslist. I first saw that picture and jumped on it immediately. I have let several deals slip through my fingers because I did not act fast enough. I think I am going to try this saw out with the 52" fence for awhile. I think I can make it work.

J. Greg thanks again for the great info. Now if I can just solve the different plug problem I will be up and running. Details of which can be found in the " Workshop" forum. Thanks again to everyone.
