Hi, Chris again from Custom Millworks LLC, just picked up a new 5hp Saw Stop, finding that maybe you might never get a finger severed but the cost to replace cartrages can get very expensive, is there any way to by pass that safty feature, or is it not recommended? Any Saw Stop owners have any problems with theres? Please advise. Thanks.:)

Not sure why you would go to the expense of a Saw Stop if you didn't want to use the safety feature. That being said, you can from what I've read disconnect it. Typically this would be done when cutting metals or wet wood like PT.

Hi Chris,
Congrats on your black beauty. Is this a hypothetical problem you are
anticipting? Or do you have the saw up and running?

I can only suggest you read your manual, and perhaps place a call to SS customer service.
It seems you lack sufficient information to even be running this machine?

If you do not know about the shiney brass bypass key, I cannot help but shudder to think what else you may not know...
Futhermore, if your saw is falsing to the point of nuisance...
better dial the phone, man.

If I may, it comes across a little odd that you mention the cost of
replacing cartridges, without also bemoaning the cost of lost blades?

Furthermore, these expensive cartridge replacements you have suffered,
can only have come from SawStop, peculiar that they did not pick up on
your high pattern of service incidence and seek a solution...

Not to mention, if the data stream contained onboard each individual
cartridge indicates falsing, I should hope you have a legitimate claim...

The manual supplied with every SS saw, is the finest and most comprehensive I have ever seen for anything. Puzzling that you are not
even aware of a saftey brake bypass option...

I can only answer for me, but if I had just laid down thousands of dollars
to buy the most technologically advanced tablesaw in the world, I
might want to keep that saftey brake monitering my sawing...

have I missed the point?
Only trying to help you solve your issues...
Thankfully the raging SS debates have subsided in the forums.
I own, run and know the cabinet saw to be excellent.
Forgive my scepticism, but the veracity of your posting appears shakey.
Good luck with all that,
Walt
:)

You just payed $4K for a saw but the $69 cart has you concerned?

Bro, watch the video and read the manual.

Sounds like Chris hasn't had a chance to unpack the crate yet and find the manual.

Give him a break; sounds like he is starting to second guess his decision and is looking for more info before he pulls out the crowbar.

Not a customer (nor will I ever be at these prices), but the only stories I have heard of false detects involve people cutting into their miter gauges. I have done that (once) and never again... don't think that kind of move is habit forming or will be expensive in the long run. Keep your lunch supply of hotdogs off the table, and you will be fine...

Tim,

We tripped one once.

Cutting a brand new kerf in a throat .

Failed to remove the riving knife.

Beware, that part is not in the instructions.
