I think the new LV works best but my all time favorite is the Miller Falls in the red box.. the long one is a General remake of an old Stanley and this is the least faforite but a great tool for scary sharp...

First stone is a diamond but looks white as it just finished flatten my arkansas stones, soft and hard.. you can see the soft still has a belly in the middle and needs a little more work.. The DMT diamond stone is great for flatten but I ONLY use if for flatten as if you use it on both it will waer pretty quick and not cut the stone as well...

Pics of shrpening a new LN blade

You can see I just started flattenig the back on the Med. India..

Here the back has a mirror finished

Hard to see but there is a mirror polished micro bevel all the way acrosee... The last stone used is a fine ceramic as I was to lazy to pull out my 5000 and 8000 water stones I use a Medium and Fine India, a soft and hard arkansas and or the water stones or ceramic..

Enjoy

Johnny,

Great set of sharpening tools and stones! I have a lot of the same in my shop and still learning to use it all. I really need to get down your way and spend a day with you if I ever get a chance.

One question..... is the stone you call a "soft Arkansas" a "Lily White"?

Hi Bob,
I'm free most any day as un able to work ay more due to a failed back surgery so most any day is good for me unless I'm going to see the Braves like today :)

I fact I hope we can get a few people to come down and do a quick plane restory and sharpening demo with some drinks and burgers..

I can say how happy I am I bought the DMT diamond stone as my stones where really out of flat..

In fat if anyone else whants to come to a plane demo and is near Rex, GA. 30273 (near Hartsfield) make a post so can see if there is any intrest...

Johnny... I would be all for the get-together if and when you are up to it. I would be willing to share on the food expenses if this comes together. Been wanting to meet you for a number of years and steal some of your knowledge :D

Maybe this could be the 1st annual Rarebear woodworking festival :D

As I've already mentioned Johnny... as long as there are no family emergencies... I would love to drop by for the get-together.
