Back in the fall I did a mini tutorial on this platter, which unfortunately didn't work out too well. The wood was still to wet, thought it was finished drying. I ended up turning the the platter three times over the course of the project. Is started out about 15" but now its only 14". The warping was 3/4" over the platter's span, so now its thinner then planned too. Oil sanded, 4 coats of wipe on poly and then buffed. Probably should have put a few more coats of poly on it, some of the inlay started to smear. The logo is the company I work for. (its time for performance reviews:D)

Great job Wayne, what kind of wood is it?

Glenn - its box elder. Picked it up a big slab of it on the clearance pile at the saw mill, $10 and I've got enough for an 8" platter and a whole lot of pens!

Thanks again for the complements!
