This was my first attempt at a vase, using a drill bit in the tailstock, and also the first time using the "new" lathe. (The "new" label is only because I finally got to use it, though I bought it back in November.) The vase is spalted maple and about 9" tall. For a finish I oil sanded it to 600 grit, then 5 coats of wipe on poly and then buffed. Thanks for looking!

Nice work Wayne! Pleasing form, beautiful wood and a good looking finish! First one's the hardest... looking forward to seeing vase #2!

What Bernie said! My first one weighed a ton, and went into the stove...
Well done.... like the shape, too... :)

That is a very nice Vase Wayne. Although I'm betting some of "those pros" are blushing. My sense is that they are hard working, friendly, warm, neighborly kind of people with a lot of great knowledge that the willingly share. I too am glad to know them. :D
