I've been searching for a couple of hours now, and am pretty frustrated. I'm looking for pre-made inlay pieces, of the type that I can incorporate into another piece. Specifically, I'm looking for an inlay piece depicting a salmon. I'm making a knife box for a fishing knife, and would really like to incorporate a nice inlay. Any sources you could pass along would be greatly appreciated!!

Regards,

Keith

Make your own? Too simple of an example...?

Also...You could get one of the laser people here on SMC to burn one in.

I had thought about the laser burning route. It's going to have to be a pretty small size...no taller than 2.25", so I'm not sure how much detail would get lost. I might have to look into that, though...if I can't find anything else.

If you are looking for a store bought one you are going to continue to pull your hair out.
You really want a specific size and picture and for that you are going to have to make you own or order a custom one.

Inlays.com has a pretty good selection but I did not see any fish. It may be worth calling them. Woodworkers who own lasers can cut a very sharp ones on a custom order. If I were you I might ask one of the creekers in the Laser forum.

There are an overabundance of books and vids.

Best for DVD is Silas Kopf (I may have misspelled his name).

Best bet for a book is to look here:

It's a bookmark, about 1" x 6"

Dewey,
Thanks for the information. I have one marquetry DVD, but some books are in order, too.

John,
That may just fit the bill. I can trim off the border, and just use what I like. Thanks for the link!!!

Buy a couple...you're bound to ruin one.
