Yesterday when I had finished the "Chaplain Pens" and had an extra Platinum Gold kit left I decided use one of several layered/segmented wood blanks I had made up some months ago.

After sanding to 400 grit and then burnishing with chips left from turning (equivilent of approx 1000 grit) I got slightly distracted somehow when I reached back on the table behind me to retrieve a bottle of Crystal Coat to finish the process. I accidently grab my bottle of Plastic Polish (Hut's). I put some on a paper towel and then realized I had the wrong bottle. I said to myself "what the heck, it does good on Corian, why not on wood?". I applied the polish and was amazed at the sheen that resulted.

I then applied 2 light coats of Crystal Coat and the result was much better than what I had been getting before.

The attached photo does only a fair job of showing the sheen.

I plan on playing with this finish some more in the coming days.

It only proves "you can always teach an old dog new tricks" ;)
