The sycamore platter is 14.5 in. wide X 1.5 in. high
The cypress bowls are on average 10.75 in wide X 3.75 in high
The eastern cedar is 10.5 in wide X 3.5 in. high
They are finished with lacquer. I will buff when they are curred in about a week. Your comments and critiques are solicited.

They all look good to me. Show a before and after buffing picture would like to see the differance.

Glenn,
Those are all very fine pieces. The finish already stands out well, before buffing. Great Turning's.

Nice bowls, all. But, I like the shape of the Cypress on the lower left the best.

Beautiful work Glenn. Would also be interested in what Dennis asked. But might be difficult to see difference in pictures, B4 and after buffing. Almost have to see it in person.

Couple of approaches (at least). Apply a few coats (to 6, maybe), cure and buff. Or apply many coats (like 18 or more), cure, sand level to 4000 or so, and buff. Kind of depends upon it's intended purpose, I guess.

It's hard to choose a winner, Glenn--they are all very nice. I do think the one second to left has the best bottom.

Very nice work Glenn! While all are really good - I really like the grain on the cypress!

Thanks for your comments. It seems most of you like the cypress with the lip. When the tree surgeon called me I almost turned him down, but decided to go take a look anyway. When I arrived I liked the figure and color of the ingrain and thought the size was just about right for salad bowls for a small family. FYI, the cypress is brittle, I had to use a faceplate to remount the bowl to turn the inside of them because the tendon snapped when I tried using a chuck. That was an exciting experience.

Glenn, all of these look great. I really like the form on the two lipped bowls. Great work all around.
