View Full Version : Console Bath Vanity with Mirror...finally done!

I'm finally done with my console bath vanity and mirror surround. Actually, the majority of the woodworking was done, but it took quite a while to tile the bathroom prior to installing the vanity and mirror. Although not evident in the photos below, my brothers really went to town on a nice tiling design.

I previously posted in-progress pics at:

The carcass was made from African Mahogany and the top is travertine stone which matches the sill on the tub and the sill on the shower door. I was going to use Corian, or similar solid surface material, but obtaining the material was difficult and the natural stone looks better to me. I also found out that the fabricated stone parts were actually cheaper than the price of just the Corian sheet stock. Go figure.

The glass in the side doors was special ordered from Rockler. And the vessel sink and faucet were purchased from Lowes. The nickel chrome German hardware was ordered from an internet source and the other basic hardware (hinges and glides) were either Woodworkers Supply or Rockler.

The mahogany received a cherry/brown stain followed by several coats of polyurethane. The mirror was an existing stock medicine cabinet that had mahogany appliques attached.

Here are the photos...

Well, Jeff, I had made up the three things I posted yesterday and decided to put them all on together. Then you post yours and I feel like I ought to move mine. :o Beautiful work.

And as per your post on the turning forum about making legs for it: I know I would be happier with some support under it and since you just about have to look for them it takes nothing away from the "floating" look you were going for. Again, congrats on a well done project.
