Last winter I traded some maple for some Texas mequite. The blank ended up having some bugs in it. Which turned out fine with me, gave the bowl some real character. It is destined to be a fruit bowl for my wife, I guess she will just have to put the grapes somewhere else!

Texas Mesquite, Danish Oil, buffed. 10in X 3.5in.

Awesome bowl! Isn't Mesquite nice to turn? Don't the worms make funny little thunk-sounds when they hit your face shield? Don't they taste just awful??!??! DAMHIKT!

Now Joel, that just has to be art as beautiful as it is, and because it doggone sure won't hold soup.

I like the character. It looks like it was delicate (and scary) to turn. It would make a nice center piece for a coffee table or dining table.

Very nice bowl! Those are mesquite "borer" holes. They look like giant grubs and hardly dull your gouge at all....... :D

Joel you have to love the work the worms do...until they splat on your face shield...I hope you wear a face shield. You might look like a biker with bugs in your teeth.....Great looking bowl, just love wormy mesquite.

This is a very nice bowl(?) or sieve, or table decoration. Most of us have made similar turnings, and it is remarkable how they turn out to be some of our most prized works. :D:eek::)
