It's not quite ready but I couldn't wait to hang it on the stand. There's a little touch up to do on both paint and poly, the lines need to be cut to length and I need to make a couple of horn cleats. I'm still on the search for four 2004 pennies to cover the holes for the brass rods for the sheaves.

FWIW, I did a couple of eye splices with quite large eyes in the three strand. then I cut the eyes open to create a couple of Ys for attaching to the cradle. The ends are stopped with figure 8s.

Thank you for looking.

Thanks guys. May 12th is the date the crew is slated to arrive. Ithink I still have a week or so to finish it up. Anyone seen pennies minted this year?

$20.00 gold pieces are about the same size. That beautiful piece deserves better than pot metal pennies.

Agree with Carl...this desires more than a penny.

Thanks guys. As to the coins, I appreciate the sentiments. The reason I want pennies is to tie in with the color of the copper rivets. Besides, I plan to drill holes in them and I don't want to think of all the gold dust I'd be wasting. :D

Actually, $20 gold pieces might be easier to find than those pennies. I've had no luck so far. Even the US Mint hasn't been of any help. :(

Dave,

My 5 year old daughter just found a penny (she is so happy). It is a 2004 penny so they are being made.

You might check with your local bank and see if they can help. If not you might have to ask some of your Sawmill Creek buddies for a few pennies to complete your project.

Your crib is awesome.

Kevin

Thanks Kevin.

My sister in law called last night to say she discovered one in he purse. She's decided these pennies will be her way of putting in her two cents worth on the cradle twice. :p

I knew they turn up eventually. You know what they say, "Someday your pence will come." :D
