I figure I'd visit the turners' forum. I've been an SMC member for a few years but never done any posting here.

I don't consider myself a pro or an artist when it comes to turning. I'm more the utilitarian type when it comes to this aspect of my woodworking hobby. My little Delta lathe is pretty old now and has served me well in my meager needs.

Anyway...

My brothers and I designed a console bath vanity that was to hang entirely from the wall. It was to have that 'floating appearance'. However, it has become awfully heavy with all that African mahogany and a travertine stone top and vessel sink. So, we made some simple tapered legs.

Just thought I'd post some pics. That's my belly hanging out there. The last pic is a computer rendering. The legs were attached and the vanity should be installed in the next day or so.

That's what we call "Turning Muscle" here.

BTW, very elegant design.

Jeff, I think it was a good decision to add a little support underneath that wonderful vanity. The tapered legs look great in the rendering and absolutely do not take away from the feel of "floating". Nice!

That is a beautiful design and does appear to be floating. I agree with Jim they did not take anything away from it.

Yep as Gordon said that is turning muscle.:cool:;)

I like your design Jeff and the legs don't detract from it's "light" feeling at all. Considering the weight I think the tapered legs were a wise decision!

Very nice piece. And BTW.. The "little delte lathe" is quite capable of taking you deep into the vortex.

Very nice design Jeff! The small legs fit your overall design and do not subtract from the 'floating' quality. You guys do nice work!

Thanks for the wonderful compliments!

Norm...the software is an old version of AutoCAD.
