How do you get the pronounced raised grain on pine?

My goal is to build a pine plank dining table with a 200 year old look. I love older tables with the very pronounced grain patterns and irregular surface.

Thanks,

Mike

"Sand" blasting would be a typical method for weathering the wood physically as to texture. What gets blasted would control how deep the effect would be. Things like walnut shells in lieu of sand, for example, would have a softer effect.

A wire brush wheel in a handheld drill will work pretty well for smaller areas but for something like a tabletop abrasive 'sandblasting' with walnut shells is probably the best bet.

a think if you blast it with 2 or three different materials it will get a more realistic aged and used look... such as some sand over all some walnuts here and there etc....
