Good morning
I am trying to work out the cutting speed for 5mm Acrylic on a 40w Laserscript (Chinese) water cooled Laser.
The only info I can find on the web is for an 80w.
Can anyone help ?????
Or is it as simple as halving the speed ??

My 30W would do this at 100% power, 0.6% speed. With a 40W, you might be able to speed it up to 0.8 or 1%.

Hey Vicky,
Do you have those numbers backwards?

LOL! Yes, I do! Thanks for noticing. It sure would be a bad joke on poor John if he tried them! :D

100% power, 0.6% speed. Makes a little more sense! :p

John,
The Chinese laser is a DC excited CO2 laser tube - as opposed to RF excited. Don't worry, I am not trying to scare you as it should work just fine, but it may work a bit differently since the pulsing between DC and RF are different. How did the edges turn out?

Sorry for the delay, but thank you all for your assistance.

I wish it was 100% speed and 6% power...then I could get a lot more done. My 40 watt cuts most acrylic at 5-6% speed, 100 power and I use 5000 frequency.

On my 40W ULS, I cut acrylic at 100% power. 2.2 speed, 1000 PPI. Leaves a nice polished edge.
