Hey I hit up a couple antique shops and found some chisels. I was hoping someone on here could help me identify them and let me know if I've found some good chisels or some old junk.

The one on the left says " HxxxxN Forge Co Made in USA" on the top of the socket. I can't read some of it and I've put an "x" where it looks like a letter is. There could be one more letter in there. It's hard to tell.

The center one says "BRACHI" I believe. I've taken a picture of it in the second photo.

The one on the right. Is the one that interested me the most. It looks like it can, and has, taken a beating which I'll need soon. But it also looks to have the Two Cherries logo on it. But it says "NERO" on it. So, I wasn't sure what to think but picked it up anyways.

Any help identifying these would be much appreciated as well as any comments about their quality.

David,

the name of the first maker is "Hudson Forge". I do not know anything about this company, but I have a small plane (#101?) with their name and "Made in Germany" on it.

The chisel in the center is made by HEINRICH BRACHT, a well known German chisel and plane blade maker. Bracht still seems to exist and is somehow related to TWO CHERRIES.

The NERO chisel is indeed made by Two Cherries. NERO is a trademark of this company registered in 1907 and used for chisels.

See also my pages about HEINRICH BRACHT and KIRSCHEN/TWO CHERRIES. They are in German, but have some pictures of trade marks:

Thanks! That was exactly the kind of reply I was hoping to get. I was able to use some online translating software to read the web pages. Those are definitely what I have.
