What can I expect if I try to run this wood through my Dewalt 735 thickness planer? It seems extremely hard and I don't want to harm the blades.... Anyone has tried this or am I being overly cautious?

It's a planer and made to surface wood. Just take very shallow cuts at first to see how it's going to plane. With sharp knives it should handle any wood you throw at it.

Yep, I've planed ebony in a DW735. But the stuff is so expensive that I don't plane much.

The only wood that has caused me trouble with my DeWalt planer is teak, for some reason that wood just dulls the blades so fast. Must be all the oil and silica in it.

The B.Ebony is so hard it leaves little ripples on it when I tried to plane it on my jointer... in fact one side already had these ripples from the woodplace I bought it from....
I guess I have to use my belt sander to get rid of them or try the D735..

The first time I face planed some ebony on my jointer it sounded like I was running marble!
