Greetings Creekers!
What an amazing weekend we are having. Anyway, my next project, which is sort of just a finish the bench project, is next on the list. I already have a maple 30' x 84" top and the plan for the base. I want to add an end vise to this. I am torn between two, the Vertias Twin Screw and the 12” quick release end vise from Rockler. I would really like the Vertias vise, however the $$$$ is one potential issue. The second issue is do I really need the ability to skew the vise jaws? Or would I be just fine with the parallel jaws of the Rockler vise? ( links to the two vises below.)
Post your thoughts and experiences please.
Thanks and Happy Memorial Day!
Victor

The Veritas Vise really outclasses the Rockler. You will pay more, but after a month you will have a great vise and you will have forgotten about the cost. Anybody who has on of these will tell you it is a great vise. Most anything of quality costs accordingly.
The Vise does not skew as much as you might think. It is not a pattern makers vise. You might skew it about a 1/2" or so. After that it gets too tight to close. The Veritas is a power house, very strong and well made. It is truly a dream to own one.

I've had the Veritas for about 3 months and really like it. The Veritas allows clamping between the screws. But a nice feature of the Rockler is the quick release.
