If you are looking for a basic reference for identifying the most common trees around here in the U.S., the you may want to look into getting one of these. (http://www.amazon.com/Fandex-Family-Field-Guides-Trees/dp/0761112049) The little guide also provide some good information and historical info (on some). The LOML bought one of these for $1 at a local sale. I found it pretty interesting and handy when checking out wood species and thought I share my finding. :D
