Hello everyone,

I started tearing down the sander this week.

Here is a thread with it all assembled,

Here is the sander all taken apart,

I managed to get (free) a couple of dust collection parts that were missing,

I know the big cast piece for the disk was an option, but I have never seen the piece on the right that bolts to the belt outlet. What that a shop made part or a real Delta piece?

I also managed to glom onto a cast iron platten to replace the stamped on the sander came with,

I had a major screw up when taking the main shaft out of the sander. I, um, forgot (didn't look really) that there was a bearing retaining ring nut in the casting. I couldn't get the main lower drive roller off the lower shaft and thought it would be easier to remove after I pressed the shaft out. Opps. Da, da, da, da on the hydraulic press, then "BOOM".

It looks like the threads on the ring nut sheared off at their tips, but the casting does not look so bad. I will be checking with Delta on Monday to see if they have any more (Doubt it, thanks B&D!). If not, I will have one made.

The new motor for the sander is a Leeson 1725 RPM cap start/run with a 7" pulley to replace the 3450 RMP 3 ph motor with 3.5" pulley. I have a new magnetic starter w/reset that will now be hidden inside the cabinet and allow the use of the old start/stop buttons,

My last questions pertains to bearings. The races on these bearings don't look standard, will I have problems finding them?

On the lower shaft there was a "NORMA 87505" that was sealed on one side and shielded on the other, the other side had a "MRC 204 FSP" with an extended race on one side.

The upper shaft had two "TRIAD 88502"'s with extended inner races.

Any current common replacements for these guys?

Thanks for looking,

David.
