Triton 2 1/4 hp Router

I can't get a 1/2" bit in the collet (no, I don't have the 1/4" colet installed - ha, ha). After taking the collet nut off, it appears the collet is still seated in the collet shaft. Any suggestions on how to remove the collet without damaging it? Thanks,

Try tapping it gently on the side.

Thanks, that did the trick; was also able to put the thin rubber grommit (sp?) while I had the collet out.

P.S. I'm the one that wears socks!!

This problem occurs if you tighten the collet without a bit in it.

That's what happened. I had a plastic alignment "bit" for my FMT jig. Evidently when tightening the collet, the plastic didn't give enough resistance.
