Welcome to the Creek Alan! Wade right in the water's fine! The inmates...er..turners here threw me into the Vortex a little over 2 years ago. They are great bunch including one guy who thinks the only lathe is Mayo(Oneway). We like pictures!

Alan - Welcome to the Creek! Monterey is one of my all time favorite places! Loved eating on the warf, hanging out at the aquarium and I learned how to dive out in the bay! Looking forward to seeing some of your work and like Ken says - we like lots of pictures!

Allen welcomes Alan to the Creek. This is a fine place to learn... and have fun while you're at it.
Ken... do you mean there really is another lathe... besides Mayo??? (head shaking, kicking rocks.... ) :D

Hi Alan,

I'm new here as well. I grew up on the Monterey Peninsula, and don't get back often enough. What are you turning? Have you used any Eucalyptus? Next time i go down, I will have to bring some back to Idaho.

Good luck and welcome.

Stephen

Allan,
Welcome. You will find some of the nicest people here, who are always willing to help a fellow Turner. One word of caution. "One step into here, and your in the Vortex for life."

Alan, welcome to the cool waters of the Creek; however, beware...you have just stumbled into the dark side...The Abyss, the place where your shop is never big enough and your wallet is never full enough.:D;)

Thanks All.
Stephen, been turning a bunch of Walnut Burl that a freind gave to me. All in prelim stages, nothing finished to show yet.

Ken, Christopher, I have been in the abyss for longer than I want to admit. In addition to the shop never being big enough or the wallet full enough, the biggest challenge is that there is never time enough...:(

Cheers All..

What a surprise! Welcome Alan. We've missed our Saturday phone call for a couple weeks and I missed your first post.

Alan is an experienced woodworker and very accomplished. He's also one of the good guys. A wonderful addition to the Creek family.

Looking forward to Saturday's telecon, Tom, in Houston, where it was 95 today.

Been on the road. I took the heat to Toronto with me this week. Should have been cool, but 95 with 45%Humidity. Yikes. I have never been sweating during a thunderstorm before??
Wow, thanks for the kind words. Talk to you tomorrow.
Enjoy meeting everyone.
