Need a Good One

OK, I am 65 years of age,and seems I never learn. I was looking for a, 1" belt sander. I had a lapse of memory and fell into H.F.. Well it lasted for one week and then stopped working. It would work,but had to be started by hand, pushing the belt down and then it would run. So now I am in the market for another,after returning to H.F. yesterday. Anyone have knowledge of "A GOOD ONE" ? Thanks in advance.

What do you use your 1" belt sander on?

I have never seen one in person, just on TV and didn't catch what kind it was.

Maybe Bosch or Makita.

Delta makes a nice combo unit - 1 x 42" belt 8" disc - both tables tilt if needed, 1/3 hp, WWS has it for about $136.00.

I bought the Delta Nancy is referring to in Lowes about a year ago for $99. It has worked ok so far.

Marty, I don’t know what you are using it on but these guys make an industrial grade 1" sander. We have one in our staff shop at work that’s probably 15-20 years old and has seen a lot of abuse, it still works great.
It’s probably a few bucks more than the HF though…

I went ahead and called Rockler, they have the Delta in stock. I will pick up tommrow. I use the sander for making Model Trains. Just started. My Grandchildren,are into trains,so I decided to go ahead and start making them. Such a big hit I am thinking of hitting the Craft Fairs in our area. San Louis Obispo Calif. Both to the North and South. If I had a Dig. Camera I would post some pictures, but at my age Modern Day electronics and I do not mix. Thank You All for the input and other options.
