Is $800 a good price for a new one of these?

I'm an enthusiastic hobbyist. I don't have 220v.

That sounds like a fair price for that saw. It is a close cousin to the 22124 I have had for quite a while now. I got it because, like you, I did not have 220v. I now have 220v but, saw no improvement over a dedicated 110v circuit which is how I have it running now.

It did dim the lights when it was running on a shared 110v circuit and the improvement of a dedicated circuit is noticeable. I run thin kerf blades and the saw seems more powerful than the 1 3/4 HP advertised. I have a commercial Bies fence but the Unifence has some nice features and is praised by many who use it.

Thanks. What's so great about the Unifence; I've also gathered that people who have Uni's love them. But I can't find why.

I would go to Amazon and buy this quick and add 220V service:

Oooh, that's tempting. Why do you recommend it. Seems like an incredible price.

I have no experience with this saw, but, you took the words out of my mouth.

edited: I just noticed, I hope you bought one - it's up to $2050 from $990!

That's a really good price for that saw. I have the same one with the Biesemeyer Fence that I paid $850 for in 2005.

It is the flexibility of this fence. It has a low fence position which is great when need some extra room for your hand to feed thin stock, the high position provides a large amount of fence area, the fence can be moved forward and aft, and it has an adjustable stop for repeatable cuts.

Here's a thread dealing the the various jigs that have been fitted to a Unifence.

What Frederick said relative to the fence...the Uni is very much like a Euro fence in its versatility. Yea, harder for "jigging" (although no longer with some aftermarket products being available for a few years now), but very nice. I had one on the Delta contractors' style saw I bought after my "mistake" saw (a Craftsman benchtop) and really missed it when I moved up to the Jet cabinet saw with it's good, but otherwise ordinary Xacta Fence. (Bies clone) With my MM slider, I'm back to the Uni style and love it!

No. I'm not that much of an impulse buyer
