I've noticed lately that more and more folks from the greater Bay Area (San Francisco/San Jose [Silly-con valley]) are joining up with the Sawmill Creek.

I've had the pleasure to meet up with two gentlemen:

Michael Perata (San Jose) and
Jamie Buxton (Redwood City)

...but I know they are a few more out there. Perhaps I could get you to respond?

There are a few BA woodworking gatherings each month that I am aware of:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SouthBayWoodworkers/ (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SouthBayWoodworkers/)
Jamie sent this one to my attention. They meet the 4th Tuesday of every month somewhere in Saratoga.

For the mid-Peninsula guys, Jamie is a member of http://www.geocities.com/bawanewsletter/index.html (http://www.geocities.com/bawanewsletter/index.html)
They meet the 3rd Thursday of every month.
Michael had a thread similar to this in the Neanderthal section but I thought it might receive a bit more visibility here.
Thanks!

Chris,

What are you looking for?

I'm responding, but I'm unsure what you are looking for.

Getting a meeting together? I'd be interested, but I'm sure....just like everyone else.....scheduling such a meeting will be a lot of fun with busy schedules. I'll offer my shop/garage/home as a first place. My shop isn't close to finished....as my DC still gets hooked up one machine at a time and I've not made myself a bona fide workbench...blah blah blah....and I've only been at this seriously for a bit less than a year now....but I'll offer my place up.

Tim,

I mostly wanted to get a bunch of names together and then who knows what could happen. A meet would be cool.

It would be nice to find out what each of us has tucked away in our garage...could be helpful for someone in need.

I hit up Michael and Jamie for some resawing and it was great...they were very helpful and it was fun to meet them. Quite the gentlemen I must say. :)

Here's another Bay Area member. I live in San Ramon, out in the East Bay, but am often in the South Bay for work.

I'm in Livermore. I know Jamie from the Bay Area Woodworkers.
There's also another, less active, group called Bay Area Galoots, if you're interested in handtools. There's an email list for that and they have a get-together once a year. I've only gone to one of their events a couple years ago when it was held in Livermore. If you're interested, here's the webpage:

A few weeks ago a couple of the Galoots came over my shop for a edge tool (planes and chisels) sharpening tutorial.
I wouldn't mind hosting again. Hope to see some of you at the next Bay Area Woodworkers meeting.
