I present 2 bowls for you to view. One is a wild black cherry and the other is a champhor. The champhor is one of the most difficult bowls I have ever turned because it was full of silica. I used Thompson and Glaser tools, but had to sharpen them constantly. They are 9 in. in diameter X 3 in. high, and finished with Deff spray can lacquer then buffed. Your comments and critiques are welcomed.

Glenn - great work on both of your bowls! I really like all of the color and grain variations on the Camphor! The Cherry color is very rich and you just know it is going to deepen with age!

Nice form on both - and I do like the slightly slanted rims!

Very nice work Glenn!

Very nice bowls Glenn, just picked up some Deff spray this morning. Just bought a used Glaser tool last week, used it on a small bowl/cup last night worked great. Turned some iron wood last week talk about hard on tools, couldn't keep them sharp enough. When I was prepping the iron wood I even saw sparks shooting off my bandsaw blade, should have been a warning. Thats the problem out in Arizona with the mesquite family of woods, lots of silica in it. Doug Thompson will probably love hearing that. But I love the look of mesquite so I turn and sharpen (alot).....Great work, you guy's really push me to improve....Bruce

Very nice work. I just found some cherry in my back woods from a fallen tree. Worms were under the bark so it could make for some interesting turning.

Not much more you can say about these turnings other than to say they are marvelous, beautifully presented and the superb workmanship speaks for itself. Other than that ,they are ok ;) Just kidding Glen. This is bowl turning at it's best I think I can safely say. Your good Glenn. Mitch:)

But even though it was hard to turn, it was worth it, because it is one of the nicest woods I've seen. And complemented very well by that amazing finish. Laquer.... mmmm... HICK!:D

Glenn, You got two great looking bowls love the figuring on both pieces, my only preference may have been an oiled finish to make the grain figuring really pop ?
