While taking my camera to the shop I heard piston engines overhead. So this turns out to be a 1 in a million chance. The lead looks for all the world like a Spitfire and the second a P51 Mustang. They appear to be sporting RAF Roundels.

You never know.

Yes.

Greg... are you using the "Manage Attachments" button below the post? Is the photo a supported type? ie "jpeg" You can upload to say, Photobucket or another photo server and copy and paste the IMG code into the body of your message like this:

[IMG]link to your photo[IMG/]

^^^^^^This works also.

Lance:

Your comments were after I managed to get the picture in the post. Does that mean you can't see the picture?

Nothing but a red X in a box - won't show the picture - try e-mailing it to someone and ask him/her to post it. Might be your technique????

Nancy

The plane at the right of the picture is definately a P-51 Mustang. I'm not sure about the other aircraft. They're both way cool! Nice pic, Greg.

The other plane is a Spitfire. I can tell by the shape of the wingtips. The used an ellipse style of wing also that was unique I think.

Very kewel! My dad would be very excited about seeing those old war planes flying over.

When I was heading to the airport the other day, the little strip on a local farm not only had the two normal light planes sitting there, but also a bright yellow Stearman bi-plane. I always enjoy seeing that one out there on the grass and flying overhead.

Hey, I am excited about seeing those planes. There is a WWII era airbase several miles from me that used to have some very nice airshows. They had planes that ranged from the WWI and WWII eras, on up to the newest high tech planes. The last air show had the F-117 Stealth fighter, the B1 bomber, the Harrier, as well as a C5 Galaxy. But I will always look at the WWII fighters, such as the P51 Mustang, F4E Corsair, P38 Lightning and others with great interest.

Thanks for posting the photo.

Regards, Colin

PS. Huntsville, Alabama is having an air show at the International Airport on June 28 and 29. Boy, am I looking forward to it.

Where I lived in California was in the flight path for many old planes headed for and returning from the Reno Nevada air races. What a great experience. No pics so I guess it didn't happen.
